things don't mean the same thing in new york as they do elsewhere. examples:
gay male
normal definition: male who is attracted to other males
new york definition: guy who only has relationships with men, but will hit on/kiss/try to sleep with girls anyway.
express
normal definition: faster than ordinary
new york definition: a subway that will skip several stops, but that will spend at least 10 minutes at the stations it does stop at, while the conductor makes 17 announcements warning everyone that ever lived of the train's express status, getting you to your final destination an average of 20 minutes after a local train would have gotten you there.
