nathan lane - hilarious will ferrell as the nazi playwright - surprisingly good. he's been growing on me.
GEORGE of desperate housewives was brilliant as carmen ghia. brilliant. i couldn't place him till i imdb'd him, but he was great.
i am not, and never have been, matthew broderick's biggest fan. this movie did nothing to sway me in either direction. ditto for uma thurman.
the "unhappy, so very unhappy" song and dance was very cool.
all in all, much entertainment, some great visuals and "oh, that would be fun to do on a stage" moments, some EXCELLENT follow spot pickups, but...
sooooo LONG! it felt like things were put in to appease fans of the original and things were put in to appease fans of the show, and as a result, it dragged on. way on. the last couple of songs, it was just like "are you kidding??? can't you just shut your mouth now?"
but i still liked it. cuz im a dork. good thing it was free...

bah. giving up a job offer to go "travel" and "have adventures" and "starve"
maybe it's for the best. having actual health insurance and a pension plan would make me feel too old. =)
